Swan mussels 'Anodonta cygnea'
plants and garden
** Please note this variety may not be in stock and may be substituted for Painter mussels with prior notification **
Swan mussels are a relatively large species of freshwater mussel with shells that feature a pale green and brown colour. Approximately sized 10-20cm, they sit at the bottom of the water feeding on particles of decaying vegetation and small live foods. As a result they act as great filtration organisms for the water.
Better suited to medium-large sized ponds with muddy soil, they thrive alongside plenty of wildlife. Please note that they are sensitive to aquatic medications
They can live for up to 12 years and can bring huge benefits to the overall condition of your pond.
As a guide we recommend 1 mussel per m².
Your mussels will be picked and packed carefully to ensure they arrive to your door alive and fresh. Please unpack orders as soon as possible.
