Nuphar lutea 'Brandy bottle'
plants and garden
From June to August the 'Brandy Bottle' produces bright yellow, buttercup shaped flowers, replete with green waxy leaves that can reach a span of up to 5ft. The flowers are followed by green bottle-shaped fruit that contain seeds, which eventually disperse via water currents and other pond activity.
A close relative of the water lily, the 'Brandy Bottle' is named so because of the alcoholic scent it gives off. It is a versatile plant that is able to withstand water currents and heavy shade. Nuphar lutea can grow in water up to 5 meters deep and with its wide-spreading habit is ideally suited to large sized ponds.
