Chinese marshflower is a very pretty, creeping perennial which is semi-evergreen to evergreen. Native to the Himalayas, it produces masses of blue-purple flowers with gold-spotted white centres on dense mats of deep green foliage from late spring right through the Summer.

An excellent edging plant for the bog or very shallow margins and beach areas (not submerged), it is also very useful for covering exposed pond liners. A more compact form of Lythrum salicaria.

Flowers - June to August
Growth - Slow

Little maintenance is required. Trim to tidy but leave foliage to die back naturally to encourage winter bud formation.

9cm marginal plants require potting into a mesh basket.

1ltr marginal plants do not require repotting. However, plants over 60cm height growth will benefit from repotting into a larger mesh basket or should be planted in gravel to prevent them from falling over.

3ltr and 5ltr plants do not require repotting; there is no need to remove the mesh basket.

Please check our pots in Plant Care section for suitable Finofil baskets.
